The larger valves are generally used for flow control between streams and storages. The very high flow rates allow rapid capture when water is available and an emergency release capability.
They are also used for normal flow control to irrigation areas.
Smaller valves in the range are used for general irrigation purposes.
Sealing is in both
directions, to eight metres head.
Specially modified versions are rated at
twelve metres maximum head.
